MANCHESTER, CT — The town of Manchester is continuing a grant program for arts and culture initiatives in the Downtown area and at related parks. The move is "to further encourage and support the significant efforts of many volunteers over the last few years," town officials said. The Board of Directors has appointed a subcommittee that will review applications shortly after the March 2 deadline and determine which projects, initiatives, events, performances or installations will receive funding from this year's allotted funds. Due to "uncertainty" amid coronavirus-related restrictions that may or may not be in place over the summer season, applicants are being encouraged to provide alternative proposals like providing remote access to events, social distancing, having displays behind store windows, semi-permanent and outdoor art installations, if your a main proposal could be impacted by the pandemic. The directors "hope to take advantage of the great momentum built up over the last few years to support interesting initiatives that will add to the vibrancy and energy of our Downtown," general manager Scott Shanley said. Applications can be found on the town's website. Any questions can be addressed by the Budget & Research Office at: [email protected].
