Woman Crashes Into Santa Monica Restaurant Dining Area

SANTA MONICA, CA — A suspected drunk driver was in custody this morning after authorities said she plowed her car into barriers outside the Urth Caffe in Santa Monica, injuring diners and sending one to a hospital. Police responded about 8 p.m. Friday to the restaurant on Main Street near Hollister Avenue, according to the Santa Monica Police Department. Video from the scene showed a black, four-door BMW with front end damage on Main Street and several barriers damaged and pushed into the dining area. One diner was taken to a hospital with minor injuries, according to broadcast reports. The woman driving the BMW was arrested on suspicion of DUI, police said.
