DOYLESTOWN, PA — Richard and Donna Shindell, of Furlong, have made a gift to Doylestown Health in the form of a $1 million pledge, the health care provider announced Friday. As first-time donors to the health system, the couple joins nearly 6,000 community members and business leaders in the region who have donated to the One Vision campaign for Doylestown Health. "We're so happy and fortunate to be able to make this contribution," Richard Shindell said. "This campaign is a golden opportunity for everybody in this community to have a meaningful role in fostering the growth of the hospital." The Shindells' gift comes just as Doylestown Health announced the increase of the campaign goal from $75 million to $100 million by 2023. "We are so pleased to welcome Richard and Donna Shindell to our family of donors," said JimBrexler, President and Chief Executive Officer of Doylestown Health. Their joining with us at this time is a hallmark of the many ways this campaign is still making an impact in our community, and inspiring enthusiasm in more people who connect with and believe in our mission. Thanks to the Shindells and so many others, Doylestown Health can continue to grow, improve, and lead theregion in healthcare for generations to come." A new concourse planned for construction on the hospital's first floor — designed to improvepatient access and streamline patient discharge — will be named in recognition of theirgenerosity. The Shindell Concourse will provide an enclosed first-floor connection betweenDoylestown Hospital and the Cardiovascular and Critical Care Pavilion, opened in January 2020. Shindell says it was important to him and his wife to attach their name to a gift in the hopes thatit will encourage others to give what they can. "I'm proud to have our name on that space," he said. "I want people to see that we care about our community. We want our name to displayed with the good works that Doylestown Health represents."
