BURR RIDGE, IL — This week, Burr Ridge police said they received a doorbell video of a man who was apparently attempting a ruse burglary of a house. Check the video of the ruse burglary suspect The video was taken on Kenmare Drive in the Fieldstone Club neighborhood, police said. It is near Plainfield and County Line roads. In the video, a man wearing a yellow vest and a dark hooded jacket held a white bucket as he walked to the front door. He knocked, but got no answer. As he left, he slipped on the snowy walkway. He stopped for a moment to look at the house, then went on his way. The police also have a photo of a gray Chevrolet truck that they say was connected to the man. In a ruse burglary, one person who poses as a utility or other service worker distracts the homeowner while another enters the house and commits theft. The man and another person went afterward to the 6800 block of Fieldstone Drive, where they attempted a ruse burglary, Deputy Police Chief Mark Loftus said in an email to Patch. But the resident called 911 and the people fled, Loftus said. In a Patch story Thursday, Loftus and Police Chief John Madden described the group that police agencies believe is conducting many ruse burglaries in the suburbs.
