Press release from the City of Lake Forest: February 11, 2021 The Hometown Hero Banner Program is for residents wishing to honor their own Hometown Hero, currently serving, retired or deceased from all branches of the armed forces with a connection to the City of Lake Forest. The banners will be flown on Civic Center Drive leading up to the Civic Center campus. Twenty banners will be available to purchase for the 2021 Hometown Heroes Banner Program. The program includes: The purchase of a banner ($300) that includes the honoree's name, a formal military photo and their armed forces branch.  The banner will be displayed on a street pole on Civic Center Drive for a period of one year. When the banner is removed after a year it will be given to the purchasee to keep To qualify, a honoree must be able to verify duty status and be able to verify a connection to the City of Lake Forest (i.e. current City of Lake Forest resident and immediate family member of a current resident, such as wife/husband, son/daughter, grandson/granddaughter, son-in-law/daughter-in-law).
