Description

Press release from the City of Fremont: February 12, 2021 The City of Fremont is prioritizing the development of programs that help serve the homeless population living in vehicles. To better address their needs, the City is launching a Safe Parking Strategy. This strategy will recommend different program options the City could pursue to offer safe and sanitary areas where homeless residents residing in vehicles could park. To start the process of developing a Safe Parking Strategy, the City asked the community to provide their input through a community survey posted on Fremont Open City Hall. The survey launched in early December 2020 and remained open until January 25, 2021. Over 450 responses were received, and the City thanks everyone who participated in the survey. City staff has reviewed all survey responses and will be presenting their proposed Safe Parking Strategy to the Fremont City Council at their regularly scheduled Council meeting on Tuesday, February 16, 2021 at 7:00 pm. For more information about the proposed programs, please view the Council meeting agenda. To learn how to access the meeting, please view these instructions. For more information about the Safe Parking Strategy, please visit the City's webpage or contact staff by email. This press release was produced by the City of Fremont.
