The Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit (VCU) has handled the investigation since the shooting and Captain Marty Sellers said an arrest warrant was obtained for Marquez Hughes, 26, who was identified as the suspected shooter. Patch previously reported that the shooting took place at Neveah Tattoos, which is located at 3915 Palisades Drive off of Skyland Boulevard.
Sellers said Hughes left Tuscaloosa and was recently taken into custody in Houston, Texas by the U.S. Marshals. Hughes was then reportedly extradited back to Tuscaloosa and booked into the Tuscaloosa County Jail on a warrant for attempted murder Wednesday.
Hughes' bond was set at $60,000 and he is also facing additional unrelated charges, with some being for probation revocation.
