Fewer Than 200 New Coronavirus Cases Reported In Jefferson County

BIRMINGHAM, AL — At this point just a month ago, Jefferson County reported its fifth straight day with more than 500 new coronavirus cases — with three of those days topping 700 new cases— which is why Wednesday's report of 183 new cases in the county comes as positive news. Wednesday's new case total marked the fourth straight day Jefferson County has reported fewer than 200 new cases of COVID-19. The news is not completely positive, however. Over the last week, the Jefferson County Department of Health has confirmed 52 deaths from the virus.
