Job Summary: The Landscape Designer/Project Manager will work under the direction of the Landscape Design + Construction Division Manager to provide customers with an inspired and full complement of exterior spaces. The Landscape Designer/Project Manager will be tasked with completing full designs, as well as estimating and implementing them. They will provide outstanding project management, so that clients have one point of contact for a seamless and enjoyable project start to finish. The Landscape Designer/Project Manager will work on projects ranging from plant installation to decks and patios to outdoor kitchens with the support of our knowledgeable Design + Construction team. Principle Duties and Responsibilities: • Create fresh and updated landscape designs for our clientele, interpreting and translating their ideas and preferences into beautiful outdoor spaces that exceed customer expectations. • Schedule appointments with customers to educate them on Molbak’s complete offering of services, products, and solutions. • Measure and draft designs accurately, professionally, and to scale for customers. Compile plant and material list with pricing and pictures for each design that are unique to that client’s home and desires (Molbak’s branded design process) and which reflect options for their budget. • Schedule installation of designs and coordinate with the installation team/subcontractors to ensure accurate and timely job completion. • Maintain consistent presence on jobsite as liaison for both foreman and client to resolve questions and meet project goals. • Meet established sales goals and work to drive increased business and sales through the department. • Produce design work in a cost conscious, productive, and efficient manner. • Complete required paperwork promptly. Accurately record customer information, accounting paperwork, production records, and design related documents. • Drive Molbak’s company vehicle on occasion to job sites (valid Washington State driver’s license and clean driving record required.) • Work with all team members to meet Division goals and support best outcomes for projects. • Consistent attendance required. • Other duties assigned by Manager. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: • Strong working knowledge of the principles and elements of design – commitment to continued growth and education. • Adept at interpreting and designing across a broad range of styles and individual tastes. • Strong working knowledge of basic construction principles and materials for patios, decks, turf, irrigation, plant material, fire features, water features, etc. Ability to effectively estimate these installations. • Able to balance creativity and accuracy in a fast-paced, high-productivity environment. • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with particular aptitude for conflict resolution and client management. • Ability to form and maintain strong working relationships with vendors and subcontractors to support successful estimating, scheduling, and installation. • Able to work both independently and as part of a team to get the job done. • Able to prioritize tasks and adjust pace in response to shifting work-related demands. • Think strategically about workflow of project and labor on jobsites to maximize profit. • Able to represent Molbak’s in a professional manner in both individual and group settings. • Able to work, standing, bending, walking, moving, or lifting up to 100% of the day. • Must be able to lift at least 25lbs throughout the day and occasionally up to 50lbs. When lifting heavy objects/items, it is expected that the associate will utilize the assistance of other teammates or tools such as hand trucks, pot lifters, and pallet jacks in order to lift items safely. Education/Experience: • 3+ years prior experience in landscape design and sales. • Proven construction project management experience with increasing responsibility. • Broad and deep knowledge of plants (both indoor and outdoor plants) and their environmental needs specific to the Northwest is required. • Coursework, certificate, or degree in horticultural/landscape design/landscape architecture is strongly preferred. • Experience with design and project management software preferred (AutoCAD, Sketchup, Pro Landscape, Excel, Smartsheet) Working Environment: • Able to work in extreme temperatures and all-weather conditions. • Retail horticultural / production environment in greenhouse facility. • On site and off-site outdoor work in open weather conditions. *Desire to live the brand, support the culture, & maintain a high level of energy & enthusiasm.
