Job Summary: The Landscape Superintendent facilitates the installation of landscape construction projects on time and on budget, meeting the Molbak’s standards of quality. The Landscape Superintendent oversees the Foremen and crews, providing support, training, coordination of workflow and directing the foreman toward successful installations and teams. In addition, he/she, participates in construction requiring high level skill, input or oversight as well as contributing as a member of the construction team as he/she feel necessary to fulfill the outcomes listed above. The Superintendent will provide support to design and sales in the initial stages of project scope development to ensure that the design aligns with the estimate in both constructability and value, ensuring that the project is set up for success at installation. As the Landscape Division develops, the Landscape Superintendent will collaborate with managerial staff in developing and standardizing relevant installation procedures and best practices. Principle Duties and Responsibilities: • Oversee assigned landscape projects with alignment on project milestones, profit margins and commitment to quality. • Work with division manager to schedule installation projects, material coordination and manage crew members • Manage, train, develop and grow the Landscape Division construction team members for continued success. • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure efficient and safe operation. • Proactively identify risks and resolve issues before they become problems. • Support Design team in development of construction standards and accurate estimating • Manage equipment and fleet to maintain optimal function, utilization and project profitability • Complete required paperwork promptly. Accurately record customer information, production records, labor hours verification and other related documents. • Facilitate communication between clients, designers, and foremen • Drive Molbak’s company vehicles as needed for site visits, deliveries, etc. and operate onsite equipment, while developing team members who can function in these roles as well (valid Washington State driver’s license and clean driving record required). • Consistent attendance required. • Other duties assigned by Manager. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: • Excellent horticulture knowledge matched with exemplary customer service and sales skills. • Extensive knowledge of Landscape Design & Construction elements including but not limited to: decks, pavers, retaining walls, patios, irrigation, low-voltage lighting, rockery, pergolas, and grading/drainage. • Demonstrated experience developing and implementing policies and procedures to improve workflow and performance. • Strong organizational, scheduling and management skills -- keeps commitments and shows consistent follow through. • Strong leadership skills -- collaborates with others for alignment and delegate with appropriate levels of clarity and empowerment. • Superior problem-solving and decision-making skills -- approaches tasks with enthusiasm and brings good common sense to work daily. • Able to work, standing, walking, bending, moving, or lifting up to 100% of the day. • Must be able to lift at least 25-50 lbs throughout the day and occasionally up to 75 lbs. When lifting heavy objects/items, it is expected that the associate will utilize the assistance of other teammates or tools such as hand trucks, pot lifters, and pallet jacks in order to lift items safely. Education/Experience: • At least 5 years of landscape construction experience. • 5+ years customer sales, project management, business management and team leadership experience. • Northwest horticultural experience or certification is desirable. • Proficiency in Windows-based software including Word, Excel, Project, and Outlook. Working Environment: Molbak’s offices are located at our location in Woodinville, WA, which includes a standard office environment as well as an indoor/outdoor retail environment. Some exposure to variations in weather and temperature can be expected.
