Essex Equipment is a family owned rental and sales company located in Essex Junction and Berlin VT. With the rapid growth of our company, we are seeking someone to work as a Yard Manager at our Essex location. This position is responsible for all yard and workbay employees. As the leader they will be responsible for the general flow of the workbay and rental yard. This is a salaried position and is part of our management team. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following: • Scheduling employees • Provide direction to employees and delegate duties to be completed. (This includes constant direction using perception to meet customers in the yard before they come in, having equipment prepped and accessible in advance, inspecting equipment for damage and ensuring the correct equipment goes out.) • Provide and or schedule training for employees. Also ensuring employees do not perform tasks that they are not adequately trained for. • Be in direct, regular contact with the Service Mgr and the Rental Manger and their teams. • Be the go-to person for the Workbay area having knowledge of what all employees are currently doing and the location of equipment. • Manage radio traffic and ensure that all radio calls are answered and/or directed to one of the employees to process • Responsible for cleanliness and organization of the equipment yard • Oversee the servicing, cleaning & inspection of equipment for rental • Oversee and or perform minor equipment repair • Demonstrate how to start and safely operate equipment • Demonstrate how to properly service and maintain equipment • Answer phone questions about equipment operation from customers • Responsible for safety of employees and customers in the yard • Assist customers in loading and unloading of equipment • Assemble new sales/rental equipment • Required to work some Saturdays in the normal rotation • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor or other managers The optimum person would have employee management background and have experience safely operating and maintaining equipment and small hand tools. They must be effective communicators and be able to multitask. This is a demanding job that requires the ability to have perception to know what needs to occur prior to being asked. Must be extremely organized and detail oriented. This position is approximately 50 hours per week (6:45-5:00). Working in a Saturday rotation is required. Typically, once every third or fourth Saturday. Much of this job is outside and requires the employee to be on their feet most of the day.
