Lumber Yard Foreman JOB DESCRIPTION: We are looking for a Lumber Yard Foreman to join the team at our Doylestown, PA location. The ideal candidate is a leader who is responsible for the supervision and coordination of yard personnel activities engaged in loading, unloading, storing, transferring, and distributing lumber and various other building materials. Heavy lifting and experience operating a forklift are required. Previous experience with building materials is a plus. A keen eye for detail and great organization skills are essential. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Supervise all yard operations for safety, quality, and efficiency. Responsible for loading, unloading, and movement of material on the premises utilizing material handling equipment and machinery; oversees receiving of yard materials. Inspects loading operations for outgoing delivery to ensure compliance with shipping specifications, load limits, and safety regulations. Maintaining accurate records of current and future inventory. Ensures that outside areas are kept neat, clean, and yard debris is appropriately recycled or disposed of. Comply with all company safety policies, procedures, training, rules, and guidelines. Maintain a positive work environment by behaving and communicating in a professional, courteous, respectful, ethical manner with customers, clients, co-workers, and supervisors. Schedule daily work Overtime control Work in conjunction and as a team with other operations employees, the shipper, the receiver, filling in for each other when needed. Working with the receiver and cross-training as a backup receiver when needed. Working with the shipper and cross-training as a backup for the shipper when needed. Responsible for overseeing the yard and trucks for any safety. issues that need to be addressed. These safety issues are in regard to the physical yard and also any safety concerns with any employee not following strict safety procedures while working in the yard. These issues need to be brought to the attention of the General Manager. Working with the General Manager to educate sales personnel when needed about delivery problems. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES: Good communication abilities Able to perform physical tasks. Able to stand and walk and be on feet for 7 to 8 hours a day. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. required. Organized and punctual Basic reading, writing skills required. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret written instruction. Use good judgment and common sense. High School Diploma or GED and 3 years of related shipping experience Must have a valid driving license and a good driving record. Requires work inside a warehouse and outside in the lumber yard in all types of weather conditions.
