I'm a volunteer dog walker at the Wake County Animal Shelter and wanted to post about this very special young dog that's currently there waiting for a new home. Her name is "Sky" and she came in at the beginning of February. We immediately noticed that Sky was very thin (needed to gain weight) and was very shy and timid. The nice thing about Sky is that she warms up to you within minutes as soon as you show her affection and talk sweet to her. She quickly became a favorite of staff and volunteers and we hope to find her a home as soon as possible. Sky has been very well behaved in her kennel, is very quiet and just waits for visitors or dog walkers to take her outside. She loves to go on walks and is perfect on leash. Due to my stature it's possible I'm mixed with greyhound. I am very tall and thin and could stand to gain a few pounds. I somehow ended up here at the shelter and the staff and volunteers have been wonderful to me. It's the safest I've felt in a long time...and they are giving me great food to eat. I event get to go for long walks with the volunteers. I am a shy girl, but I warm up to you very quickly especially if you baby talk to me and then my whole body wiggles. I will trust you instantly if you are sweet to me. I love big hugs and body rubs too. The volunteer who took me for walks today said I am perfect on a leash (I don't pull and I will walk next to you). I would love to find a family to take me in and protect me.
