West Town Bakery is growing and looking for friendly and caring Packers who enjoy being around people and working in a fast-paced environment with a supportive small team. West Town Bakery is a locally-owned bakery bringing quality breakfast pastries, breads, and sweets to the Chicagoland area. It’s a fun place to work and a great place to start a career too. A Packer will be responsible for ensuring all orders are packed according to the invoice and placed in proper areas for pick up for the driving team. They will also be responsible for adhering to the guidelines set by the chef team and Delivery/Logistics Coordinator. Essential Functions: Be familiar with the appearance of all product Ensure all products are packed according to guidelines Bag all bread on cooling racks after all other duties are completed Package certain items for next day-delivery in a careful and efficient manner Package the correct items, in correct quantities, based off of a customer’s invoice, with the Customer Name, Date, and Items clearly written on packaging Ensure all packing material is ready to go for next day (stickers, labels, bags) Assist kitchen team with items like bread slicing Maintain the highest level of cleanliness and organization Other Functions: Be available to fill in as needed to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the wholesale department as directed by the Department Manager or Lead Driver Complying with health and food safety standards, restocking items, and cleaning Physical Functions: Ability to stand/walk/sit a minimum of 8-10 hours or as needed Must be able to exert well-paced and frequent mobility for periods of up to 8-10 hours or as needed Be able to lift up to 40 pounds frequently Will frequently ability to use stairs, reach, feel, bend, stoop, carry, finely manipulate and key in data Work in both warm and cool environments Must be able to tolerate potential allergens: peanut products, egg, dairy, gluten, soy, seafood and shellfish.
