Wakefield Sets Vaccine Clinic For Residents 75 And Older

WAKEFIELD, MA — Wakefield has announced a local vaccine clinic for people age 75 and older. The clinic is for Wakefield residents only, and appointments are required. The town vaccinated 1,484 people at its Feb. 1 clinic. Unlike that clinic, which included Phase 1 groups from surrounding communities, this one will exclusively serve Wakefield's 75+ population. "Our first clinic was an amazing success with almost 1,500 patients vaccinated," Town Administrator Stephen Maio said. "We accommodated appointment shifts, so our seniors could avoid the storm, and were fully operational until our posted closing time despite the snow." Maio said the town will implement some changes to improve flow, including adding volunteers to assist those with mobility challenges and increasing the technical support available. More clinics will be scheduled once the town receives additional vaccine shipments.
