A former U.S. Postal Service mail carrier stole $2,000 worth of gift cards from customers on his route, federal prosecutors said Wednesday.
Brian Thibodeau, 48, was indicted on one count of theft of mail by an employee of the U.S. Postal Service. He was released on conditions after appearing before a federal judge.
Thibodeau admitted to stealing $2,000 worth of gift cards on his mail route last year, according to U.S. Attorney Andrew Lelling's office.
Thibodeau had worked as a letter carrier for the Saugus Post Office since 2001.
