Press release from Belmont Public Schools: January 29, 2021 Dear Parents/Guardians and Staff, Since Monday, 1/11/2021 we have been engaging in negotiations with the Belmont Education Association (BEA) to consider two important documents that will impact both the elementary and middle school hybrid schedules: Newly released Student Learning Time (SLT) requirements from the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) Recommendations of the Elementary & CMS Hybrid Advisory Groups that were presented to the Belmont School Committee. We were successful in coming to agreement on changes that will satisfy the new SLT requirements for the entire district. These changes were agreed to on Wednesday, 1/27/2020 and ratified by the BEA membership on Friday, 1/29/2021. Elementary and middle school parents/guardians will receive an update on the initial schedule changes from your child's Principal later today. Please be on the lookout for this important communication. We will continue these discussions with our educators to work toward agreement on the remaining aspects of our work to improve our hybrid models.
