Suspect Arrested In Connection With Norwalk Stabbing: Police

NORWALK, CT — A 22-year-old Norwalk man was arrested on a charge of second-degree assault Tuesday morning in connection with a stabbing in the city in which the victim suffered injuries that were not considered to be life-threatening. The incident occurred at about 8:30 a.m. when police were called to a home on Maple Street for a report of a stabbing. "Officers responded to the area and quickly located the described suspect in the driveway, with knife still in hand," Norwalk police said. "The suspect, [Ivan Ortiz-Sosa], was compliant, dropped the weapon when asked, and was taken into custody without incident." Police learned that the victim in the attack walked to Norwalk Hospital where that person received treatment injuries not considered to be life-threatening. "[Ortiz-Sosa] and the victim knew each other, and an argument had erupted that morning over a relationship with a third person," police said. "The argument turned physical, with older children nearby. [Ortiz-Sosa] was accused of using the blade to stab the victim several times in the torso, as the fight moved to different rooms in the residence. " In addition to second-degree assault, Ortiz-Sosa also was charged with disorderly conduct and risk of injury to a child. Norwalk police also discovered that there was an outstanding warrant for Ortiz-Sosa on a charge of violation of a protective order. He was held in lieu of bail of $85,000, and was scheduled to be arraigned in court on Wednesday.
