Join Go Love NY for a historic hike through Irvington Woods We’re fortunate to have the esteemed local historian and resident, professor, and avid outdoorsman, Neil Maher, leading us on a hike in our beloved Irvington Woods. Irvington Woods is a favorite local hiking spot in the Rivertowns, full of history (you’ll hear about Peter Oley, V.E. Macy and Roosevelt’s CCC program ties to the Woods, as well as an intriguing “Hermit of Irvington”). Neil will share his knowledge of the history of the Woods as we enjoy an easy-to-moderate hike through this off-the-beaten path spot. -------------- More About Neil: Neil M. Maher is a Professor of History and Master Teacher in the Federated History Department at the New Jersey Institute of Technology and Rutgers University-Newark. He is an award-winning author, instructor, and public speaker interested in the environmental and political history of the United States. Masks and social distancing are required. All attendees must arrange their own transportation, as we are unfortunately not able to provide transportation due to the ongoing pandemic. Space is limited to 8 people. Ages 14+. Tours are rain or shine. Tickets are non-refundable.
