Man Broke Into Home, Sexually Assaulted Child: Hamden Police

HAMDEN, CT — A registered sex offender is accused of breaking into a Hamden home and sexually assaulting a young child while they were sleeping, according to police. Police responded to a home in the southern section of town during the early morning hours of Feb. 6 on the report of suspicious activity, according to Capt. Ronald Smith. Smith said police found that Antwuane Darden, a registered sex offender, illegally entered the home and sexually assaulted the child, who was taken to a local hospital for medical treatment. Darden, 37, of New Haven, was arrested on charges of first-degree sexual assault, home invasion and risk of injury to a minor. Darden was held in lieu of a $500,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 22. Detective Angelo DeLieto of the Hamden Police Department Special Victims Unit conducted the investigation.
