Ash Wednesday 2021 Modifications for Ash Wednesday For the health and safety of all gathered, St. Raymond will be offering the distribution of Ashes on Ash Wednesday, February 17, 2021, with the following modifications: All attending are required to wear a face covering at all times while in the building. The priest says the prayer for blessing the ashes. He sprinkles the ashes with holy water in silence. He then addresses all present saying the formula as it appears in the Roman Missal applying to all. The priest / deacon will then sanitize his hands, put on a face mask and shield and distribute in silence to those in the pews. Only a small amount of ash will be sprinkled over the head of the recipient. For the safety of all, private prayer will not be available at this time. Due to social distancing requirements, church capacity will be significantly reduced and seating will be in every other pew with social distancing between those attending. Please see the chart below for seating guidelines. Pews labeled with 5 maximum will have a maximum of 5 people, all who live in the SAME HOUSEHOLD, and pews labeled '2' has a max of 2 who live in the SAME HOUSEHOLD. Other family members who live in a different household will have to sit in a different pew. We have a limited amount of pews that will accommodate a family of 5 or more, please see seating chart below. Pews with 'X' will not be used. The following guidelines have been put in place for the safety of all attending: Please wait in your car until you see someone unlock the doors to enter. Please maintain the recommended 6 feet while in line awaiting ushering to a pew.If you have not registered to attend, you will not be allowed into the building.Greeters will usher you to available seats in the church. PLEASE NOTE - you will be escorted to your pew. It is not possible for you to sit in your 'favorite seat.'Hand Sanitizer will be available at entrances, please make use of it when entering. All attendees will have their temperature taken before entering church.If you are sick or vulnerable to infection; or care for someone who is vulnerable we ask that you please do not attend.Everyone attending mass MUST wear protective face masks . To avoid cross contamination, hymnals will not be provided.When you enter the church you will notice that there is no Holy Water. However, you should make the sign of the cross when entering the church.Please use the restroom at home before coming to Mass. Restrooms located in the Narthex will only be available for emergencies.Please plan to arrive not later than 15 minutes prior to the Mass you have signed up to attend. Please enter through Door 21, 22 or 23. All other entrances will be locked. In order to assure the safety and health of all our parish family and friends, we ask that you do not congregate or meet up before or after Mass. Holy Communion-the Priest will walk through the church to distribute Holy Communion. The faithful remain seated in the pews; extend one hand only to receive Holy Communion. Remove on side of mask to take in host an then replace mask.A minister will walk ahead of the priest to spray your hands with sanitizer.The consecrated Host will only be distributed IN THE HAND ONLY.We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we come together for Mass, with measures in place to minimize risks during this time.
