Press release from the City of Walnut Creek: February 9, 2021 2020 was challenging for all Walnut Creek residents, and yet we all know someone who stepped up and offered a hand during a difficult time without needing or expecting any recognition. This year, Mayor Kevin Wilk would like to recognize some of those less well-known champions - whether it is a health care worker, the essential worker ringing up your groceries, or your neighbor who decorated your street for the holidays to bring some joy - we want to lead a round of applause! Every other month, the City will open a nomination period for two weeks, and nominees will be screened by a panel of community members. Finalists will be recognized by the Mayor on our website and social media. Check back soon for details on how you can nominate the person who has made a difference for you!
