New COVID-19 Cases Increase Slightly For Last Week In Northbrook

NORTHBROOK, IL — Like every other municipality in Illinois, the Village of Northbrook has been dealing with its own unique data points regarding the coronavirus. According to the Cook County Medical Examiner, 106 people have died due to COVID-19 in Northbrook since March 29, 2020. That marks no new deaths since Patch's last report on Feb. 4. For further comparison, there were two new deaths between Jan. 28-Feb. 4. The most deaths in a single day since the pandemic began was four on Nov. 12 and Nov. 19. As of Thursday, there have been 2,617 coronavirus-related cases in Northbrook, according to the Cook County Department of Public Health. That marks an increase of 45 cases since Feb. 4. For further comparison, there was an increase of 39 new cases between Jan. 28-Feb. 4 and 76 new cases between Jan. 21-28. These numbers indicate an -39.1 percent change in confirmed cases over the last 14 days. (Cook County Department of Public Health) In addition, 89,194 people have been tested for the coronavirus across zip codes 60026 and 60062, according to the Illinois Department of Public Health. That number marks an increase of 3,012 tests since Feb. 4. For further comparison, there was an increase in tests of 1,552 between Jan. 28-Feb. 4. Library Reopens Feb. 22 With Limited Services In Northbrook As of Thursday, the Cook County Department of Health is reporting 207,319 confirmed cases and 3,869 deaths since the pandemic began. That marks an increase of 3,049 cases and 65 deaths since Patch's last update on Feb. 4. For further comparison, there was an increase of 3,242 cases and 55 deaths between Jan. 28-Feb. 4. These numbers include all confirmed and probable cases under the jurisdiction of the Cook County Department of Public Health (excludes Chicago, Evanston, Oak Park, Skokie, and Stickney Township). The Illinois Department of Public Health is reporting 23,304 confirmed cases in Cook County long-term facilities and 3,253 deaths. That marks an increase of 177 cases and seven deaths since our last report on Feb. 4. In the past, the IDPH has temporarily removed some cases and deaths on three different occasions since Patch has been tracking these numbers, before including them back in at a later date.
