By Sam Borcia, the Lake & McHenry County Scanner | February 10, 2021 7:15 pm A Beach Park woman, who is a state employee, was arrested and charged with battering a female resident at a Waukegan developmental center for people with behavior problems and disabilities. Brandy Johnson, 42, of Beach Park, was charged with one count of aggravated battery, a Class 3 felony, and one count of abuse of a long-term care facility resident, a Class 3 felony. The Illinois State Police Division of Internal Investigation concluded an investigation into Johnson, who works as an Illinois Department of Human Services medical health technician at the Ann Kiley Developmental Center in Waukegan. The Ann Kiley Center serves a broad spectrum of individuals with moderate to high behavioral and low to moderate medical needs. The Division of Internal Investigation was requested on December 16 by the Illinois Department of Human Services to investigate an allegation of physical abuse to a resident at the center. Johnson allegedly inappropriately grabbed a resident and battered them during an altercation, according to the Illinois State Police. The Illinois State Police Division of Internal Investigation received approval for felony charges against Johnson on February 10. Johnson was taken into custody by ISP DII agents and was transported to Lake County jail where she remains in custody awaiting a bond hearing.
