MAHWAH, NJ — Public Schools officials reaffirmed their commitment to celebrating and honoring Black History Month in a letter to the district this week.
"During our work in preparing our school district's strategic plan, working with various stakeholders, it was evident that there is a collective commitment on focusing our efforts towards creating an environment of respect and appreciation for diversity, as well as our commitment to equity for all those who are underrepresented, both in our community and the nation as a whole," officials wrote.
Teachers throughout the district have planned learning opportunities for students that will seek to not only teach, but to celebrate, what "Black history has brought to all history."
