ELMHURST, IL — In the last few days, Elmhurst police have handled cases involving drugs, an altered business check, harassing calls, porch piracy and driving violations. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports: Drugs Melissa Talaga, 23, of Elmhurst, was arrested about 9:30 a.m. Wednesday on two counts each of unlawful possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was taken to the DuPage County Jail. According to police, Talaga was found to have the illegal drugs when officers conducted a well-being check. Loaded handgun Brittni Buckner, 27, of Hillside, was cited about 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Lexington and York on charges of unlawful use of a weapon and tinted windows. She was released on bond. According to a police report, Buckner was in possession of a loaded handgun. She said she had a firearm owner's identification, or FOID, card, but was unaware the gun needed to be unloaded and secured. Business check altered Brico Industries, 777 N. Larch Ave., wrote a check to another company Oct. 23. After reviewing the company's account, it was discovered that the check had been altered and paid to an unknown recipient. The business does not know where and how the check was deposited. The report was made Tuesday. Harassing calls A resident in the 400 block of West Third Street told police Tuesday she received harassing text messages from her ex-boyfriend. An officer spoke with the man and told him to cease all contact with the woman. Porch piracy A resident in the 600 block of South Bryan Avenue reported that a package left by UPS on Jan. 21 was tampered with. A phone inside was stolen. The report was made Tuesday. Car at cemetery A person informed police Monday that a car was parked in the far northeast part of Elk Lawn Cemetery. An officer found the unoccupied car, which had a flat tire. The officer unsuccessfully tried to contact the owner. Car part stolen A catalytic converter was stolen from a car between Feb. 3 and Feb. 6 in the parking lot at Elmhurst Terrace Apartments, 128 Fellows Court. Driving violations Caprice Radcliffe, 41, of Chicago, was cited about 10:30 p.m. Monday at York and Crestview on charges of driving with a suspended license and failure to dim headlights. He was released on bond. Piotr Kopek, 42, of Northlake, was cited shortly before 1 p.m. Tuesday at North End and Willow on charges of driving with a revoked license and speeding. He was released on bond. Kondil Combi, 67, of Elmhurst, was cited about noon Tuesday at Butterfield and Commonwealth on a charge of failure to give aid or information. He was released on bond. Jarmie Hanner, 34, of Maywood, was cited shortly before 9 p.m. Tuesday at York and Lake on a charge of possession of marijuana by a driver. The suspect was released on bond. Tiara Strong, 24, of Villa Park, was cited shortly before 10 p.m. Tuesday at St. Charles and Route 83 on a charge of no valid driver's license. She was released on bond. Sean E. Buban, 39, of Elmhurst, was cited at 5 a.m. Wednesday at St. Charles and Berkley on charges of operating an uninsured motor vehicle, driving too fast for conditions and damage to city property. He was released on bond. Taleah M. West, 20, of Chicago, was arrested about 2 a.m. Thursday on Roosevelt on charges of no valid driver's license, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, improper lane of usage, improper display of registration and possession of marijuana by a driver. She was released on bond. Police report information is provided by local police departments. Charges are not evidence of guilt.
