Description

NASHUA, NH — Nashua Fire Rescue responded to Nashua Drive and Canal Street for a report of a train derailed on Thursday. When Nashua fire arrived at just before 12:30 p.m., they found a locomotive off the track in the area of Margarita's restaurant. The locomotive was pulling two boxcars and a tanker all that remained on the track. Nashua fire deemed the scene safe from hazards, and the Pan Am railroad took control of the situation. The locomotive due to snow and track conditions slid off the rails. Sources indicate that a specialized crane will be brought up the tracks from Main Street and the crane will lift the locomotive back onto the rails. No one was injured, and the entrance to Margarita's parking lot will remain blocked until the train is moved. There is an alternative entrance to the parking lot located to the East of the main entrance. ©Jeffrey Hastings www.frameofmindphoto.com/news.
