Press release from the City of Missoula: February 10, 2021 Residents are invited to review the new Mount Dean Stone Preserve Recreation and Special Resource Management Plan and comment on it via an online survey through Wednesday, February 24. The plan addresses the management of 535 acres of City open space acquired in 2016 and 2020 with the help of private landowners and Five Valleys Land Trust. Mount Dean Stone is located in the South Hills, situated between Pattee Canyon and Miller Creek. Parks and Recreation opened the Barmeyer and Sousa trails on the mountain in 2018. The new management plan outlines future trail connections and construction of new non-motorized routes to the summit and addresses natural resource conservation and wildlife management.
