PHILADELPHIA — The Northeast Philadelphia area will be getting a new option for grocery shopping later this year, as Giant is planning to open a new store in the area. The grocer announced recently that it is planning to open a store at 2201 Cottman Avenue at the corner of Bustleton Avenue in Northeast Philadelphia. Construction on the new 67,000 square foot Giant is scheduled to begin in late March with an anticipated opening date later this year. The new store will feature Giant's fresh departments, in addition to a Beer & Wine Eatery, expanded plant-based offerings, made-to-order meal solutions and Giant Direct grocery pickup. More details about the store will be shared at a later date. About 200 people will be hired for the new Cottman Avenue store. "With its diverse neighborhoods, people, and undeniable passion for food, there's no place quite like Philadelphia, and that's exactly why The GIANT Company continues to invest in new stores across the city," said Nicholas Bertram, president, The GIANT Company. "Featuring a new look and the very best of the GIANT brand, once completed, our new Cottman Avenue store will serve as a bold sign of our commitment to the city, bringing along hundreds of new jobs all while increasing access to great-tasting and affordable food, inspiring meal solutions and time-saving grocery conveniences to the families counting on us."
