UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — Dylan's Candy Bar is set to become one of the Upper East Side's most high-profile pandemic casualties, as the glitzy sweet shop's flagship location has been put up for lease.
The 12,000-square-foot shop at 1011 Third Ave., at East 60th Street, has been listed by Ripco Real Estate, broker Lindsay Zegans confirmed on Thursday. She said the shop was still open as of Wednesday, but declined to comment further.
Dylan Lauren, daughter of the designer Ralph Lauren, opened the Upper East Side shop in 2001 — the first location in a chain that has since spread to five cities.
Now, however, the company is facing a lawsuit over unpaid rent at its East 62nd Street corporate office, and is being accused by one supplier of failing to make required payments, according to The Real Deal, which first reported on the shop's closure.
In its 20-year tenure on the East Side, the shop's towering candy bins and colorful lollipop decor have made it a popular spot for birthday parties and a destination for tourists.
Dylan's Candy Bar did not respond to a request for comment.
