Los Angeles Harbor Grain Terminal/Mortimer & Wallace, Inc. has been in business since 1958. Providing full time employment to nearly 100 drivers, conveyor operators, mechanics, and administrative staff, Los Angeles Harbor Grain Terminal provides numerous logistical services for the US agricultural industry for their export and import needs through the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach. Annually, we dray and transload more than 25,000 TEUs. We are currently looking to hire day and night yard laborers!! Yard laborers will assist in all yard duties, including but not limited to driving yard goat truck, loading and unloading and assisting maintenance when necessary. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: * Operate yard truck to move containers within the yard. * Assist in loading and unloading of containers and ensuring proper handling. * Unload railcars following proper procedures. * Inspect equipment before and after use. * Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions, following signals from loading crews as needed; check that vehicle position is correct and any special loading equipment is properly positioned. * Check vehicles before operating to ensure mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order. * Assist in sweeping and maintaining the yard clean. * Coordinating work with fellow workers and other team members. * Assist with the 2x4’s and cardboards. * Adhere to safety and company polices * Assist in the yard as needed (clean yard and dock, help loaders, run errands). * Work well with others and follow instructions from supervisor. QUALIFICATIONS: * Must pass a pre-employment physical and a drug and alcohol test. * Must be able to work overtime. * Must be able to lift up to 50- 65 lbs. * Meet company background check requirements. * Experience operating yard goat trucks is a plus but not necessary. We will train you! * Should have the ability to work in a team environment.
