With our nursing homes and assisted living facilities locked down, our seniors are having such a terrible winter after a long hard 2020. To cheer them up, I am looking for people who will make drawings or cards that will be given to each resident of all 8 facilities. Almost 1000 people. They are scared. Unable to have visitors, to go out, or even to visit other residents in the day room. They sit in their rooms. The staff are covered with ppe, which frightens them. Reminding them that there is a bad virus taking peoples lives. There is a big scary guard at the doors. And it is all just so hard for them. So would you please help with some cards and drawings? a few suggestions that they love are: - a blank card with a "Hello. Thinking of you. Love from _____. - young ones have been saying "Hi. I am _____. I have a dog named Fred. Here he is". And they draw a picture of their dog. or "Hi. I am ____. I am 5. This is my mom and dad". And a drawing. - Older youth draw a picture and sign it Love from _____ - A page from a coloring book, (childs or adult) saying "Love from ____" Just a first name is fine. And it is best not to say get well or feel better because many will not get well or feel better ever. So hearing that makes them sad. But they are happy to have a card or drawing from someone who they have never met. It means someone cares. The shorter the message, the better because many have difficulty reading.
