This is a 60-minute process-based art class for 3 and 4 year olds, rooted in art history and story, promoting courageous creativity and play Ages 3-4: Course 1, Color Theory & Great Art This sign up is for the Thursday morning 3 & 4 year olds art class meeting weekly for six weeks beginning September 17 and concluding on October 22, 2020. Each week we will focus on a different color in the color wheel. We will read a couple of books based on that color, look at several works of art that feature that color, and have free creative time to explore a variety of sensory materials and mediums in that color as well. This course will explore basic color theory, introduce great works of art, and encourage creative exploration of color through a variety of art materials and sensory play. Course 2, Claude Monet Themes This sign up is for the Thursday morning 3 & 4 year olds art class meeting weekly for six weeks beginning October 29 and concluding on December 10, 2020, minus the week of Thanksgiving. In this course, we will focus on the beloved impressionist painter Claude Monet by focusing each week on a different theme commonly found in his paintings. Examples include water, flowers, boats, etc. We will read one or two stories focusing on Claude Monet, his art, and the theme of the week, then the students will have free creative time to explore materials and mediums relating to the theme as well. This course will equip your child with knowledge about the artist, exposure to great works of art, and further confidence with a variety of art materials. Course 3, Henri Matisse Themes This sign up is for the Wednesday afternoon 3 & 4 year olds art class meeting weekly for six weeks beginning January14 and concluding on February18, 2021. Each week we will focus on a different theme found in the art of Henri Matisse. We will read one or two stories focusing on the artist, his art, and the theme of the week; then the students will have free creative time to explore materials and mediums relating to the theme as well. This course will equip your child with knowledge about the artist, exposure to great works of art, and further confidence with a variety of art materials. Course 4, Vincent van Gogh Themes This sign up is for the Wednesday afternoon 3 & 4 year olds art class meeting weekly for six weeks beginning March 11 and concluding on April 15, 2021. In this course, we will focus on the post-impressionist painter Vincent van Gogh by focusing each week on a different theme commonly found in his paintings. We will read one or two stories focusing on the artist, his art, and the theme of the week; then the students will have free creative time to explore materials and mediums relating to the theme as well. This course will equip your child with knowledge about the artist, exposure to great works of art, and further confidence with a variety of art materials.
