NORWALK, CT — A 55-year-old Norwalk resident's chance of survival is dire unless he receives a new liver, and his family is hoping to find a match for him, reports The Hour. James Carlson, a welder, has already lived a few months beyond his doctors' diagnosis, but he needs a transplant as soon as possible. His family launched a page on a donor website seeking a liver match for a transplant, on which they describe him and spell out his urgent need. "James has been diagnosed with end stage liver disease and needs a living donor," his uncle, Howard Kaplan, wrote. "I am reaching out to see if anyone would consider being a living donor. James is a gentle soul who loves God, his family and friends, eating, cooking and going fishing in that order. The liver grows back in a few weeks, and is the only organ in your body that can do that. All medical expenses are paid by James insurance.
