Information via Town of New Milford NEW MILFORD, CT — When Pete Bass first became Mayor of New Milford, one of his priorities was to increase the training of the town's employees in topics such as cyber security, workplace safety, bullying and sexual harassment, performance management, among other topics. Because of this new policy, all town employees were required to take these trainings in the town's effort to increase excellence in how the town serves the public. Because of this training policy, New Milford won its first ever award from CIRMA, the town insurance carrier, Sustained Excellence in Risk Management. This recognition was awarded to New Milford due to the training program that was implemented that requires employee to take E Learning Classes focused on areas of greatest risk. As a result of the training program, New Milford has reduced their claims experience and have realized an over 40% decrease in liability premiums. The Town of New Milford was awarded a Trophy and a $2,500.00 cash prize. This was due to the hard work done by the HR Department, Greg Bollaro and Diane Cunningham to implement this program with 100% compliance and Grant Writer Tammy Reardon for putting together the information for CIRMA to review If you have any questions, call the Mayor's Office at 860 355 6010.
