BRAINTREE, MA — The Braintree Planning Board unanimously voted to allow the construction of two large commercial buildings on Adam Street. Adams St. Enterprises LLC will build a 77,000-square-foot warehouse/light manufacturing building and a 50,000-square-foot office condominium building at the site of the Graziano Concrete plant. The development will be called the Riverbend Business Park. Under the plan, two other smaller buildings on the property will be renovated. At Tuesday's meeting, Nicole Taub, the chief of staff for May Charles Kokoros, told the board Kokoros supports the project. Taub said the project was reviewed extensively and will positively impact the neighborhood. Interim Planning Director Melissa Santucci Rozzi lauded the plan for including an environmental cleanup of the property. Despite the unanimous approval, planning board members agreed there is one more issue that needs to be resolved. Board member William Grove said he worried that 53-foot long tractor trailer trucks won't have enough room to turn into and onto the property without blocking or damaging Adams Street. Engineers are expected to submit plans to show there is enough room for trucks to make the turn. Discussions on redeveloping the Adam Street property started five years ago, and other projects were considered over the years. One earlier proposal was building 142 apartment units, but the plan was dropped because of neighbors opposing its construction.
