GAITHERSBURG, MD — Montgomery County police have arrested a woman they say was behind multiple bank robberies in Gaithersburg. Carisa Cline, 44, was charged with one count of armed robbery and two counts of robbery in connection to three incidents that took place between Jan. 28 and Feb. 8, police said. The first incident took place at the M&T Bank located at 5 Bank St. Around 1:49 p.m. on Jan. 28, Cline approached a teller, announced the robbery, and demanded cash, according to police. She did not obtain cash and fled the scene in a black Chevrolet Malibu, authorities said. Around 1:04 p.m. on Jan. 29, police responded to the BB&T bank at 467 N. Frederick Ave. for the report of a robbery. An investigation by detectives determined that Cline passed a note to a teller demanding cash and implied that she was armed. She fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of cash, police said. During that investigation, detectives identified Cline as a possible suspect. Around 1:30 p.m. on Feb. 8, investigators observed Cline leave her Gaithersburg home in a black Chevrolet Malibu and drive to the Wells Fargo Bank at 12161 Darnestown Rd. Authorities said she approached a teller, announced the robbery, and implied that she was armed. Cline obtained an undisclosed amount of cash and fled in the Chevrolet, police said. Investigators followed Cline back to her apartment and attempted to arrest her. Police said she was arrested after a brief foot pursuit.
