Description
BOWIE, MD — The Bowie Police Department reported an uptick in drug complaints over the last two months. Officers added that the incidents have centered around the city's "E" Section, including Elder Oaks Boulevard.
Police have made five drug or gun arrests in that area since the spike began, a write-up clarified. Officers also pointed to a recent carjacking on Governor's Bridge Road as part of the increase in crime.
"The recovery of these weapons and drugs has further ensured the safety of streets that many call 'home,'" the department posted on Facebook. "We extend our thanks for your support in alerting our department to continued drug use and/or suspicious activity as we continue to diligently patrol the City of Bowie."
Police asked residents to report non-emergency suspicious activity to (240) 544-5700. Officers urged locals to call 911 during emergencies.
