HACKETTSTOWN, NJ - A 51-year-old Allamuchy Township man was arrested after allegedly screaming racial slurs inside the Hackettstown Applebees on Jan. 31, according to the Hackettstown Police Department. Hackettstown officers responded to Applebee's Neighborhood Grill + Bar shortly after 8 p.m. after being called to investigate a disturbance. When officers arrived on location, Jeffrey Becker was standing out front of the restaurant, police said. Through an investigation it was determined that Becker was at the restaurant and then began to be disrespectful towards the bartender, police said. When asked to leave, Becker repeatedly yelled a racial slur inside the restaurant, police said. Becker was charged with two counts of disorderly conduct and released pending a court appearance. When the Hackettstown Police Department shared the arrest information to social media, a man named Jeffrey Becker took to the comments section to defend his actions. "Ok, I Do not think, what I did, was appropriate, but, is this still, America?" the account wrote. "Last time I checked, we are able to speak, apparently not!!!" When criticized by other posters, Becker responded. "I will say this, what do you do, sit and look for news? Obviously, you have alot more time on your hands, than me. I have met more people in my life, which is the music business, so, am I a racist, no! If you ever toured, ever did close, and met a multitude of people, no," the Jeffrey Becker account wrote. "I lost my cool! Enough said!!!" Thanks for reading! Learn more about posting announcements or events to your local Patch site. Have a news tip you'd like to share? Got photos?
