Bucks Co. Kennel Club Cancels 2021 Dog Show

UPPER BUCKS — We're not sure how the doggos feel about it, but canine owners hoping to compete in the 2021 Bucks County Kennel Club Dog Show have to be disappointed. For the second year in a row, the club is canceling its annual Point Show in Tinicum Township due to the coronavirus pandemic. Held in May, the event typically draws hundreds of people to see more than 1,800 dogs compete in the contest. Show Chair Joan Gordon Murko said having to cancel the events in back-to-back years was a difficult decision. "Safety for exhibitiors and workers, and compliance with all health requirements, were the essential factors that determined the outcome," Murko wrote on Facebook. "It was the right thing to do! Now we all look forward to that 18th show weekend of 2022 when once again exhibitors return to the great GSATC, BCKC and TKC shows," she added, referring to the Garden State All Terrier Club and Trenton Kennel Club shows. The Bucks County Kennel Club released the following statement regarding its decision to cancel this year's show: It is with great regret that I must inform you that the Bucks County Kennel Club met last night and made the difficult decision to cancel our 2021 Point Show. We had hoped to be able to work with the county health department on Covid restrictions but as we moved forward it became apparent that we would not be able to safely make this happen and comply with the requirements the county was asking for. I hope you can all understand and respect our decision, it was not met lightly. We have always been proud of the tradition and reputation our club has held and we would not want to have an event where we could not uphold those principals including the safety of our members and participants.
