Vegetable Farm Hand Needed
Jobs
Big Lake MN
Description
Farm Farm CSA (farmfarmcsa.com) is looking for two employees for the 2021 growing season. We have one full time position (4-5 days a week) and one part time position (3-4 days a week). Employment would begin between mid April & mid May (depending on weather) and wrap up at the end of October. Work days are Monday through Friday 8a.m.-4:30p.m. We ask that you commit to the whole season. These hourly employee positions are paid $13.50 to $14.50 an hour, depending on work experience. We are a small non-certified organic CSA and farmers market farm with a small crew, so employees must be able to accomplish many different tasks. Applicants should have the ability to work quickly and carefully in all types of weather, and ability to preform a variety of physical activities for extended periods of time. We are searching for individuals who are self motivated and have initiative, arrive on time, have a good attitude, and are able to take constructive criticism. We expect employees to come to work prepared (water bottles, sunscreen, hat, gloves, packed lunch etc.). Additionally we are looking for someone who is comfortable driving our big rusty 95 Chevy G20 van to pull a trailer to deliver 200 CSA shares every Thursday from mid June to the end of October in a route that takes you through Minneapolis, then onward through the western suburbs and back to the farm. Delivery days start earlier at 7am. Farm activities for these positions include but are not limited to: harvesting, washing, packing produce; prepping growing beds by spreading amendments (some of which are made out of manure and can have a strong smell) broadforking, spreading compost, planting, weeding, trellising, and whatever else it takes to ensure quality vegetable production. Farming is physical work, you must be able to lift 50lbs and be prepared to do repetitive tasks kneeling or crouching down, lifting heavy objects, getting dirty, over and over and over again. We work outside so it can be excessively hot, humid, cold, windy, rainy, and occasionally snowy, and there can be biting insects; all while working quickly, efficiently, and with a good attitude. If you are interested please email us a letter stating why you want to work on a farm, why you want to work on our farm, and why you are qualified, as well as a resume showing your recent or relative work history. You do not have to have farming experience to apply, but you must be a bad ass.
