SUMMARY The Mechanic is responsible for the maintenance and operation of all vessel systems including hydraulics, diesel engines, mechanical and electrical systems. Assists engineers and electricians in maintaining the machinery of the entire vessel. Employee must be able to work 8 to 12 hours, rotating shifts which will include an offshore rotation of 28 days on and 14 days off unless otherwise changed. Extensive travel is required. Must observe all safety and security procedures at all times and utilize all equipment/materials properly. Must be prepared and able to exercise Stop Work Authority for any actions that appear unsafe, and report any potentially unsafe conditions. Must be able to pass a post offer physical exam and drug screen. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following, additional duties may be assigned. Repairs, services, adjusts, tests and maintains all hydraulic and other mechanical systems onboard the vessel including equipment, devices, moving parts and control mechanisms ensuring efficient operation Maintains/repairs living quarter facilities onboard the vessel including but not limited to: sewage, lighting, air-condition, emergency/life-saving and water systems Conducts and assists with deck operations including but not limited to bulk fuel transfers, crane, mechanical, hydraulic and emergency/life-saving systems onboard the vessel Repair and maintain crane, hoisting mechanism and any associated moving parts associated in the operation of traveling or stationary cranes Tests all applied mechanical repairs and adjustments to ensure safety and reliability, including the function of pumps and mechanical units using auxiliary power Performs maintenance in accordance with Planned Maintenance System guidelines and OEM recommendations Ensures that service, maintenance and other operational reports are accurate and complete and satisfy regulatory and company policy and procedures Inspects, adjusts, and identifies mechanical malfunctions, problems or defects associated with the machines or equipment on the working vessel or platform Participates JSAs and all other Safety, Health & Environmental process, trainings and meetings Ensures compliance with Manson's Code of Ethics and Standards of Business Conduct Responsible for practicing safe work standards and promoting an Incident and Injury Free (IIF) work environment as a condition of employment RequirementsQUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. SKILLS, EDUCATION &/or EXPERIENCE Three (3) years' work experience as a mechanic servicing, repairing and maintaining, equipment, cranes/winch required, or similar capacity. Marine experience and a high school diploma/GED preferred. Wor on a derrickbarge preferred. Must possess a working knowledge of equipment maintenance and be able to communicate, follow instruction. tale direction and work cooperatively with others. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Valid picture identification required. Position requires a valid Transportation Workers Identification Card (TWIC). IS Networld card preferred. Certified training in all or any of the following preferred: Rigger, Fall Protection, Water Survival, Marine Trash & Debris, Fire Fighting - Incipient and SafeGulf. PHYSICAL DEMANDS The employee must be able to meet the physical requirements of this position, including: Able to safely perform medium to heavy physical labor as classified by the U.S. Department of Labor and work outdoors in all weather conditions on marine vessels, in and around heavy equipment/large machinery. Perform physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs, total body movements such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, and stooping for the handling, moving, positioning and installing of materials, equipment and manipulating controls.
