Do you have: -2 or more years of background in work experience, DIY, lumber, building projects, etc -General understanding of lumber and most products in our inventory w/extensive knowledge in several categories such as; metal, plumbing, electrical, farm needs, animal feed, hardware, tools both manual and power, etc. -Great attendance & Customer Service skills -Basic understanding on how to safely use and work basic saws/equipment & forklift -OSHA approved footwear & proper clothing/gear to accommodate day to day weather and labor needs. -able to lift 50lbs+ unassisted -The ability to be both team oriented & works well independently If so, you may be the one for this job. The responsibilities include but are not limited to: Working inside as a store clerk will include you being able to know or learn our POS system, handle money, check out customers and answer phones. Assisting customers in finding what they are shopping for, answering their questions about products or projects and their purchases. Extended knowledge on inventory is important as you will encounter many customers with many different needs, from working on fun DIY projects to building homes from the ground up to those needing light bulbs or a new toilet seat.. Understanding verbiage and other names of different products and use for each tool used to complete their projects is very important.. You will be expected to stock inventory when we receive orders from our vendors, as well as entering any vendor invoices needed to be put into the system. Every employee is expected to maintain a clean and organized work space, especially in shared POS system areas, as you may not be the only clerk at the desk. Forward facing, straightening, cleaning and dusting shelves, etc. down each aisle to make sure everything is in its rightful section. As a lumber handler you would be expected to Assist customers loading lumber, sheet rock, insulation, bricks, appliances, bags of feed, concrete, hay, etc. onto their vehicle and sometimes even delivering it to their homes or work place. You will need to be able to lift most objects alone, unassisted. Being able to measure lumber to ensure they are getting the right piece(s) and measure to cut pieces is a must- so knowing how to use and read a tape measure is necessary for the job. Inventory knowledge is important and extended knowledge is preferred, as you will be expected to help as many customers as you can, with product knowledge. Able to work and run a forklift, saws and other outdoor equipment and tools- if you are forklift certified, or can become certified, let us know, as we often use our forklifts. This is a FULL TIME position and pay depends on your experience and knowledge.
