On Thanksgiving weekend my eight year old daughter, Rose, and I delivered meals to a homeless encampment here in Atlanta. Several of the people asked if we had blankets because the temperature was steadily dropping. I passed out the two that we usually kept in the car for family outings. With tears in her eyes, my daughter asked could we get more blankets, some food and something to put everything in. I used the money I had received for Christmas and went to a local thrift store and purchased 15 bookbags, 15 blankets and a few coats. We then went to the store and bought enough food for a couple of days for each bag as well as some hygiene products and PPEs. We went back to the encampment and passed them out. Rose asked if we could do it again the next weekend and thus Blessing Bags of Warmth For The Homeless was born. https://www.facebook.com/BlessingBagsOfWarmth To date we have served over 1,000 un-house individuals in the Atlanta area. Everything from coats, blankets, hygiene needs to PPEs! We have also served several meals as well as assisted in stocking a couple of open air food pantries shopped by the un-housed. We have been doing this with contributions from friends, family and other members of our community. Serving the homeless has always been a passion of mine since a young age so I was over the moon to find out that my eight-year-old daughter shared the same passion. Therefore we have decided to do this full-time! Recently we received our LLC and are working toward our 501 c 3. We are relying on the generosity of contributions to not only fund this endeavor, but keep it going.
