Join us for a day of pruning public orchards around Cincinnati's Westside!
In partnership with the Civic Garden Center, Turner Farm, the Common Orchard Project, and Giving Trees, we will be preparing many of the public fruit orchards for Spring! Topics covered will be pruning, scion collection, and general orchard care.
Building off of Turner Farm's “Fruit Trees: Pruning, Care & Selecting Varieties” class on February 13th and the Community Priuning Event, Day 1 on February 20th, this volunteer day will help spread the skills learned there throughout the greater Cincinnati region.
We will be meeting at the South Cumminsville Community Garden at 12 pm on February 27th for a brief introduction before breaking into groups to head out to the Westside orchards. Participants will have to use their own vehicles to travel between sites so we encourage carpooling where COVID appropriate. .
With the event running till 3pm, we encourage everyone to bring water and a snack or a light lunch as we will be working in and around lunch time.
If you cant make the 12pm start time but would like to meet up with us at one of the orchards, let us know and we can coordinate accordingly! We will be heading to the neighborhoods of: South Cumminsville, Westwood, Price Hill, and Lower Price Hill so if youre interested in one of those neighborhoods specifically, let us know and we ill coordinate with you!
Tools will be provided but if you have a favorite pair of gloves, loppers or hand saw, feel free to bring them along, the more the merrier!
Hope to see you on February 27th!
If you would like to attend, please reserve a spot!
