Under the direction of the Director of Meals Program Services, the Food Service Worker plays an essential role in providing nutritious and timely meals to students, in accordance with state and federal guidelines. S/he is responsible for serving hot and cold meals to students, performing routine cashier duties, and maintaining the cleanliness of food service facilities and equipment. Prospect Hill Academy Charter School is now accepting applications for a Food Service Worker. 7:00am-1:00pm (M,T,Th,F); 2:00-5:00pm (M,W). Subject to change in accordance with needs of the Meals Program Essential Functions:  Distribute meals in accordance with all health and safety guidelines  Oversee the activities of school children in the school cafeteria  Maintain food service facilities, equipment, and utensils in a clean and sanitary condition  Stock condiments, food items and paper goods  Assist in the storage and rotation of food leftovers and supplies in storage areas  Inventory food and supplies, and track food for daily production logs  Properly take and record food temperatures that adhere to food safety standards NOTE: This list of essential and additional functions is not intended to be all-inclusive and may be supplemented at the request of one’s supervisor and/or senior management. Additional Functions: Learn and effectively apply methods and procedures for preparing and serving food in large quantities, sanitation practices related to the handling and serving of food, and proper safety procedures Attend meetings, in-service training and workshops as assigned Participate in available training and complete required continuing education/ training hours in order to meet USDA professional standards Additional responsibilities and tasks requested or assigned by manager Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required:  High School diploma or equivalent preferred  1-2 years of experience in food service, kitchen maintenance, or related field  Valid ServSafe certification, or commitment to receiving certification within six months of employment  Preferred: knowledge of food safety and guidelines, food preparation and handling skills, basic kitchen utensils and equipment, packaging and distribution of large quantities of meals, sanitation principles applicable to food handling  Required: ability to maintain regular attendance and punctuality, work collaboratively as a team member, complete work without interruptions  Commitment to Prospect Hill Academy's educational mission, vision, and values  Commitment to working with students and families from diverse backgrounds with diverse profiles  Well-developed and demonstrated cultural proficiency  Strong organizational and communication skills  Interpersonal skills including tact, patience and courtesy  Basic math and record keeping skills Physical Requirements:  Frequent sitting, standing, walking, reaching with hands and arms to stoop, kneel, or crouch  Frequent lifting and/or moving up to 20 pounds and occasionally lifting and/or moving up to 30 pounds  Occasionally required to operate a computer and other office equipment with hands and arms  Occasional use of hands to handle or feel  Occasional climbing or balancing  Regular speaking and hearing; specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception The above information outlines the general nature and level of work performed by employees within this position.
