SALEM, MA — The Salem State University location for regional coronavirus vaccinations will be open on Wednesday and Friday for residents of five North Shore communities.
Residents of Beverly, Danvers, Marblehead, Salem and Swampscott eligible in Phase One of the state's vaccination rollout, as well as those 75 years old and older eligible at the start of Phase Two, could register Tuesday for appointments on the two dates.
The access link went live at 8 a.m. on Tuesday and can be found here. There were slots available as of late Tuesday morning.
Cataldo Ambulance will administer the vaccinations.
More clinics will be held as more vaccine becomes available and the pool of eligible residents expands.
"We are working with Cataldo Ambulance on staffing regional vaccination clinics at SSU," Salem Mayor Kim Driscoll said. "Going forward, we hope to have clinics operating weekly, with (appointments) opening on a regular schedule. So if you do not get an appt for this week, do not despair. We will have more openings next week."
Gov. Charlie Baker said on Monday that it will be a "little while longer" before vaccines are opened to those 65 and older.
"We'll move when we get to the point where we think we've done a pretty good job with the communities that are currently eligible," Baker said during his news conference.
