Your Arlington Last Updated: 09 February 2021 Written by Arlington Patch, BostonGlobe UPDATED, Feb. 9: The third storm in eight days expects to add three inches of snow in Arlington, with temperatures below freezing. Patch, a YourArlington partner, reported Tuesday, Feb. 9, that other parts of the state could see up to eight inches of snow. A BostonGlobe.com map shows three to six inches in a region that includes Arlington. Snow is expected is begin by 10 a.m. in central Massachusetts and between 10 and noon in eastern Massachusetts. It's expected to continue for about 12 hours, with the heaviest of it coming between 2 and 7 p.m. North and west of Boston are under a winter storm warning and expected to get the worst of it. Places like Worcester, Amherst, Lawrence and Newburyport are looking at six to eight inches, Patch reported. Super Bowl Sunday Southern New England saw snow all day Super Bowl Sunday, and places in Norfolk County received a foot. The National Weather Service reported no snow total for Arlington, but listed 5.8 inches in Lexington, which is similar to anecdotal accounts here. Southeast Massachusetts and Rhode Island saw the most snow. The storm coincided with the 43rd anniversary of the Blizzard of 78, which dropped over 25 inches of snow across southern New England over two days. The quick-moving storm will approach from the west Tuesday morning before tapering off in the evening. The morning and afternoon commutes are expected to be messy. Much of eastern Massachusetts is forecast to get 2-3 inches, with 3-4 inches eyed in the northeastern part of the state and west of I-495. The Berkshires could see up to 6 inches.
