EAST PATCHOGUE, NY — An East Patchogue resident started a fundraiser to help her family who lost their home in a house fire last week. According to Amanda DeMasi, on Feb. 6 her brother, his girlfriend, their two daughters, grandparents, and uncle, lost their home to a house fire. There were no injuries in the devastating blaze, however, the house was seriously damaged. The fire left the second floor of the home in ruins. "We are so lucky and blessed to say everyone got out safe and unharmed," she wrote. "And even more blessed that my nieces didn't lose many personal items that were located on the first story of the home." Now, the family will have to deal will be months and months of rebuilding the home, which was a rental, meaning many of their personal belongings that were ruined will not be covered by insurance. In order to help the family, DeMasi started a GoFundMe campaign to raise $10,000. As of Tuesday, the page has raised a total of $2,920. "I am asking for family and friends to pull together and help the Bells rebuild and get through this really tough time," she wrote. "Any amount would be greatly appreciated. My family thanks you from the bottom of our hearts for the prayers and any donations made to help them." For more info or to donate, visit the GoFundMe here.
