The 2021 Indiana Doula Summit will address the role of doulas bridging gaps in maternity care, discuss how doulas can reduce challenges and disparities within their communities and understand current Indiana legislation. Address the role of doulas bridging gaps in maternity care. 2. Discuss how doula care can reduce mother and infant mortality rates. 3. Explore challenges within their communities and brainstorm ideas for change. 4. Share regional resources and standards of care. 5. Understand current Indiana legislation concerning doulas and state Medicaid funding. 6. Learn to be allies in the minority maternal and infant mortality crisis. Speakers Georg'ann Cattelona,PhD,CD(DONA) Currently a Community Organizer with the Uplands chapter of Hoosier Action, Georg'ann previously worked as a birth doula, childbirth educator, birth doula trainer, non-profit director and lobbyist. She is always an advocate for Hoosier families. Kelli Brien CD(DONA), CLS, LCCE As a founder of Mahogany Maternity, Kelli is a maternal health advocate focused on eliminating health disparities.She created the Speak Life Doula program and co-authored the Safety Pin Grant. She is a certified lactation specialist, Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educator and Certified Birth and Postpartum Doula of over 12 years from South Bend, IN. Jeena Siela BA,MPH As the Director of Maternal-Child Health and Government Affairs for March of Dimes, Ms. Siela develops and directs maternal and infant health programming and policy work for the state of Indiana. Additionally, Ms. Siela ensures that the March of Dimes is a recognized leader and participant in improving infant health throughout the state. Ms. Siela has maternal and child health experience in government and nonprofit sectors-before joining March of Dimes, she worked with the federal Title V grant within the Maternal and Child Health Division at the Indiana State Department of Health. Ms. Siela has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Purdue University and a Masters of Public Health degree from the Indiana University School of Medicine. Audience Although the summit is geared toward birth and pospartum doulas, others are welcome such as doula program directors, lactation support, childbirth educators, community partners, maternal/child health professionals and students.
